Alice Kathrine Pollock

On May 15 we were blessed to have Alice come into out lives. She is so beautiful and she already has us wrapped around her little fingers. It all started at 8 am when the hospital called and asked us to be there at 9 for the induction. I choose to get induced because generally my children's heads have been so large if I let them go full term it wouldn't be pretty. I was so nervous but we got ready and made it to the hospital right at 9. The boys were already at my parents house spending the night.

We got admitted to the labor and delivery room but we ended up waiting for an hour while they tried to figure out why the lock on the drug cupboard was beeping even though they changed the batteries. It was quite entertaining and it took my mind off the upcoming events.
At 10am they started the pitocin IV and things started progressing. I decided way before hand that I would attempt to do this one natural with no epidural, not quite sure what I was thinking. Something about appreciating how it was done in the olden days.
The doctor came at 11:30am to break my water. Things were going good and my contraction weren't really that bad. But with pitocin things went from 0-60 really fast. My contractions were really starting to hurt and by 12:45pm I was begin for an epidural. Everyone was trying to convince me I could do it but I was scared for the pain to get worse cause it was bad at that point. The nurse checked me and I was a 7 at that point. The anesthesiologist came in at 1pm and by then I was yelling, "I need to push!" and she checked me again and yup it was time to push. I had gone from a 7 to a 10 in just a few minutes. No drugs for me. They yelled for the doctor and he came running. I felt like I was screaming at the top of my lungs but I had really gone into a hypnotic like trance and I pushed through 2 contractions and she came out.
